Capaccio Paestum – An Irpinia man in his sixties was the victim of a violent attack yesterday evening, around 22.30pm, along the coastal road of Capaccio Paestum, in the Salerno area.
Beaten, robbed of his car and left half naked and injured, the man was rescued after asking for help from passers-by. His car, used by the robber to escape, was found shortly after in flames.
According to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri of the Agropoli Company, the 60-year-old, resident in the province of Avellino, was driving his car when he was attacked by a man, presumably a non-EU citizen. The attacker, after repeatedly hitting him with kicks and punches, pulled him out of the car and drove away in the vehicle.
The robber's escape was short-lived: when he reached Campolongo, the man lost control of the car, crashing into a pole. Shortly after, the car was found completely in flames. In the meantime, the victim, in serious condition, managed to ask for help from passers-by, who alerted the authorities.
The Carabinieri, firefighters and 118 paramedics intervened on the scene and transported the man to the hospital. According to initial information, the 60-year-old suffered a fractured nasal septum and a head injury. His condition, at the moment, does not appear to be critical.

This news is very alarming, I don't understand how it is possible that a person can be attacked in this way. Violence seems to be increasing everywhere and the authorities must do something to stop it. I hope the victim recovers soon.
