Naples – After a vile act of vandalism and the theft of sandwiches suffered about ten days ago, Luca's Pub, local historian of the Vomero district, has decided to respond with a gesture as symbolic as it is tasty: the creation of the “The Cialtrone's Sandwich".
An initiative that combines typical Neapolitan irony with the fight against small and large illegalities, inspired by the commitment of Avs deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who has long been at the forefront of denouncing these episodes.
The sandwich, already the protagonist of a video that went viral, was reported by numerous citizens to Borrelli himself, who expressed full support for the initiative.
"I think it's an intelligent and effective idea," the MP commented, "in support of the campaign against widespread crime and in defense of the territory, which I have been carrying out for years. I hope that many people will go to Luca's Pub to try this sandwich, as a sign of solidarity with the owners for what happened."
The episode of vandalism and theft at the pub is unfortunately not an isolated case. Borrelli underlined how reports of predatory crimes are constantly increasing, a sign of an increasingly unscrupulous and aggressive criminality.
"These are crimes that, even if they involve thefts of little economic value, cause enormous damage to the shopkeepers - he added -. Against this drift we need the mobilization of everyone, in addition to the commitment of the police. We like initiatives like this because they combine Neapolitan irony with the desire not to give up, demonstrating that honest citizens will never retreat in the face of crime".
The “Panino Cialtrone” is not only a symbol of resistance, but also an invitation to the community to support local businesses affected by acts of illegality. With its diffusion on social media and the support of personalities like Borrelli, Luca's Pub has transformed an unpleasant episode into an opportunity to reiterate a clear message: Naples does not give up.
Meanwhile, the venue continues to record an increasing attendance, with clients curious to taste the sandwich that has become an emblem of the fight against crime. A way to say, once again, that the best response to violence is solidarity and the desire to start over.

It's nice to see how Luca's Pub reacted to an act of vandalism, but I wonder if just a sandwich is enough to fight crime. Of course, irony is important, but stronger measures are needed.
