Late this afternoon, the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office "served the investigation documents on footballers Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo, who were training with the national team at the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano."

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced the news in a statement. The Newcastle midfielder and the Aston Villa striker have been implicated by Fabrizio Corona, who alleges the two players bet on football matches.

"Regardless of the nature of the acts, believing that in this situation the two players are not in the necessary condition to face the commitments scheduled in the next few days, the Federation has decided, also to protect them, to allow them to return to their respective clubs , concludes the press release from the Football Federation.

Nicolò Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali had been brought into play by Fabrizio Corona

Nicolò Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali were implicated by Fabrizio Corona. The former paparazzi king was interviewed at the Milan police station as a person informed of the facts, in reference to his accusations against Nicolò Fagioli, now under investigation in Turin, who allegedly suffers from gambling addiction.

"Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo do it too," Corona said. "An informant revealed to me that Zaniolo bet on Roma's Coppa Italia match even when he was on the bench. The names were given to me by reliable sources that I will reveal as soon as possible."

The information on soccer betting "comes to me from someone well-connected in the world of soccer and is part of a dossier that has been collected over time. In the coming weeks, we'll see some really interesting things," Corona concluded.
