A powerful homemade explosive device was detonated last night in front of the entrance to a ground floor apartment on via José Maria Escrivà, in Pianura.
The explosion destroyed the door and the adjacent wall, shaking the entire building and waking up residents up to several hundred meters away.
Fortunately, no one was injured. According to the police, who are conducting the investigation, the attack was a signal to the Calone-Esposito-Marsicano clan, which controls the area. In fact, the current regent of the clan lives not far away, having taken over from Antonio Gaetano called “Plasmon”, who died in hospital on March 23 after being ambushed nine days earlier in Mergellina.
The alarm was raised around 30:XNUMX a.m. The Upg officers from the police headquarters, colleagues from the flying squad and the local police station rushed to the scene. The investigations are being conducted by investigators based in Via Medina, who know the area well.
Among the possible recipients of the intimidating message there is Gennaro Battista called “Genny”, cousin of the more famous Luca, arrested two years ago with a gun on him in via Provinciale Napoli. Battista is indicated as frequenting circles close to the Calone-Esposito-Marsicano, at war with the Carillo-Perfect.
José Maria Escrivà Street is an area considered to be under the influence of the Calone-Esposito-Marsicano. It was on this street that Gennaro Battista was arrested in 2020 during an anti-drug operation.
