We are entering the heart of the 30th edition of Cinema around Vesuvius, Arci Movie's summer arena in the elegant Villa Bruno in San Giorgio a Cremano. The special location in the Vesuvian area will host over fifty film and guest events until August, bringing to the big screen important films and protagonists of the Seventh Art, and not only.
The Arci Movie initiative has been a significant cultural event between the eastern and Vesuvian areas of Naples for three decades. event, in collaboration with the Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano, after the first well-attended evenings, continues in the home of the Golden Mile with works that have enthralled, sparked discussion, thrilled and animated halls and audiences throughout Italy.
This year Cinema intorno al Vesuvio intersects with the Troisi Award through the special event on Wednesday 19 June, with free admission, with a tribute to Eduardo De Filippo for the fortieth anniversary of his death. The evening is dedicated to the screenings of short films made by schools from all over Italy that have been selected by the Arci Movie association as part of the Award dedicated to the well-known and talented actor and comedian from San Giorgio a Cremano. Many works have arrived from all over the Peninsula and four have been chosen from Campania, one from Tuscany and one from Calabria.
The screening of the shorts in the Arena of Villa Bruno will be accompanied by a delegation of teachers and students and by the speeches of Gino Rivieccio, artistic director of the Massimo Troisi Award, Mimmo Basso, operational director Drama of Naples, Giusi Gresia, Eduardo De Filippo Foundation, and Annamaria Sapienza, professor of History of Theater at the University of Salerno. The event will also be animated by the reading of excerpts from the work of Eduardo De Filippo interpreted by the actor Gianfelice Imparato and the screening of the short film “Passerà la notte” by Mena Solipano made with the comprehensive institute 57 San Giovanni Bosco of Naples and inspired by the work “Napoli milionaria”.
On June 20 and 21, we return to feature films with “Sarò con te” by Andrea Bosello, the work awaited by many fans of the Neapolitan team. It is the collective story of the victory of the Scudetto that came after thirty-three years of sacrifice: on the big screen, the gaze and words of players, starting with Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, of personalities from the world of sport, entertainment and journalism including Fabio Cannavaro, Geolier, Toni Servillo, Maurizio de Giovanni, Salvatore Esposito, Luisa Ranieri, Marco D'Amore. There is no shortage of words from former coach Luciano Spalletti and the president of SSC Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The event continues on June 22 and 23 with another double screening of “Il segreto di Liberato”, directed by Francesco Lettieri and Giorgio Testi, centered on the story of Liberato, a Neapolitan with an unknown identity who, since 2017, has emerged thanks to the fusion of the Neapolitan neo-melodic tradition with electronic music and hip-hop influences. His debut on the scene was “Nove maggio”, a true national success, followed by “Tu t'e scurdat 'e me” and other songs that went viral. Liberato's live appearances were few but significant, with stops in Berlin, Paris and London in 2023, culminating in the three sold-out days that filled Piazza Plebiscito in Naples in a party that welcomed eighty thousand people. The actor Carlo Luglio and director Guido Lombardi will present the film on Saturday 22, and the evening will be dedicated to an artist who recently passed away. The June screenings close on Sunday 30th with another highly successful film: Barbie by Greta Gerwig, which revisits the adventures of two dolls that have made young people all over the world dream.
