Ottaviano, 'Visioni Vesuviane' kicks off: the festival that unites cinema and territory

Ottaviano, a small town located in the heart of the Vesuvian territory, is preparing to become the hub of cinematographic culture with the arrival of the Visioni Vesuviane Cinema Fest. From 4 to 6 September 2024, the suggestive Palazzo Mediceo will host cinephiles, directors and enthusiasts, offering a unique experience that aims to celebrate cinema and the beauty of the Vesuvian territory.

An Event Dedicated to Cinematographic Culture

Organized by the ACT Production association, the Visioni Vesuviane Cinema Fest aims to promote cinema as a tool for cultural expression, highlighting the stories, traditions and unique identity of the territory. ACT Production is an independent film production association that deals with production, distribution and event organization. Among its main initiatives, ACT Production is also the organizer of the Picentia Short Film Festival, an international short film festival that this year reached its eighth edition.

A Stage for Emerging Talents

The Visioni Vesuviane Cinema Fest is not only a celebration of cinematography, but also a showcase for young directors eager to showcase their talent. Through a competition, emerging filmmakers will have the opportunity to present their works in a context that values ​​both new talents and industry professionals. This event will involve a diverse audience, composed of enthusiasts, critics and film experts. Luca Capacchione, president of ACT Production and artistic director of the event, said: “This first edition of the Visioni Vesuviane Cinema Festival represents an important starting point. Our goal is to build a festival that not only celebrates cinema, but that becomes a point of reference for the territory, creating synergies with local activities and already looking to the future with a long-term work program”.

A First Edition with an Eye to the Future

The Visioni Vesuviane Cinema Fest is already looking to the future, with the intention of growing and evolving in the next editions. The festival will not be limited to simple screening evenings but will range from publishing to visual art, from cinema to meetings with authors and artists, also including a training workshop. This first edition will lay the foundations for a fixed appointment in the cultural panorama of the region, capable of offering an increasingly rich and diversified program every year. An interesting preview concerns the collaboration with AVAMAT, an independent film production studio known for its ability to produce avant-garde films with filmmaking professionals. In particular, AVAMAT will be the protagonist of the opening night of the festival with “NiC – in Cinema”, an independent cinema festival that brings short films by Campanian authors to the theaters.

The Mayor of , Prof. Biagio Simonetti, commented: “We hope that this edition will be only the first of a long series. Ottaviano, the Vesuvian territory and its historical and natural riches are the most suitable places for a of the genre, which puts a high-quality cultural proposal first”. The Councillor for Events, Angelo Alterio, added: “We are grateful to the organizers, together we will work to make Ottaviano a reference city for quality cinema enthusiasts”. The festival will be an unmissable event for all lovers of cinema and culture, combining quality screenings, meetings with artists and moments of study in one of the most fascinating locations in the Campania region.
