To mark the anniversary of the Four Days of Naples, the Punk Tank Café at Piazza Dante 40 will host a series of cultural and musical events from September 27th to 28th. The initiatives aim to celebrate the city's historical memory and offer participants a weekend away from the usual nightlife.
Friday 27th September: Homage to Maddalena Cerasuolo
On Friday, September 27, the Punk Tank Cafè dedicates the evening to the historical figure of Maddalena Lena Cerasuolo, a Neapolitan patriot, anti-fascist and worker who played a fundamental role in the popular uprising against the German army in Naples between September 27 and 30, 1943. The city was later awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor for the Resistance. Maddalena Cerasuolo, for her distinctive participation in the Italian war of liberation, received the Bronze Medal for Military Valor. The debate of the event, moderated by the lawyer and professor Mauro Buono, will have the aim of doing justice to her importance, supporting the idea that she deserves the Gold Medal for Military Valor. Speakers will include Gaetana Morgese, writer and daughter of Maddalena Cerasuolo, Gianluca D'Agostino, teacher, Raffaele Ambrosia of Pmli, poet Salvatore Pasquale and journalist Carmine Aymone. The evening will continue with the music of Joken.
Saturday 28th September: Concert of the Emilia Rossa Popular Band
On Saturday 28 September, the Punk Tank Cafè will host a live performance by the Banda Popolare dell'Emilia Rossa, an anti-capitalist group made up of metalworkers and musicians. The band, founded on 25 April 2011 in Piazza Grande in Modena, stands out for its revolutionary, militant and anti-capitalist political commitment, transmitted through music. The collective is made up of RSU Fiom delegates from the most important metalworking factories in Modena, including Ferrari and Maserati, and musicians who embody job insecurity. They define their musical genre as “internationalist”, aimed at going beyond any predefined scheme, with a view to unity and solidarity of the subaltern classes. The evening will offer a lively and engaging experience, in perfect harmony with the revolutionary and subversive spirit of the Banda Popolare dell'Emilia Rossa, an implicit homage to “Area”, a band that also has a strong anti-capitalist and subversive charge.
