The State Police has dealt a significant blow to the D'Amico clan, seizing assets with a total value of approximately 6 million euros. The operation, coordinated by the Court of Naples - Prevention Measures Section, was triggered following a seizure order issued on the proposal of the Police Chief, according to the provisions of the anti-mafia code.
Article Key Points
Salvatore D'Amico, known as “'o pirata,” a leading figure in organized crime in the eastern part of Naples, has ended up in the crosshairs of law enforcement. The suspect, already under special surveillance and convicted of Camorra association, is suspected of belonging to the D'Amico clan, also known as “i Gennarella.”
Active mainly in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood (Rione Villa) and surrounding areas, the clan has consolidated its influence on the territory through illicit activities such as extortion, robbery, usury, drug trafficking and damage. The victims of their intimidation include entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, professionals and ordinary citizens.
The asset investigation, conducted by the Anti-Crime Police Division of the Naples Police Headquarters, brought to light a vast treasure attributable to D'Amico, but formally registered in the name of family members and third parties to evade preventive measures. The seized assets include properties in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, bank accounts, and companies operating in the trade of petroleum products and lubricants.
The bloody feud with the Rinaldi Reale and the expansionist aims on Rome
Furthermore, the D'Amico clan has been able to form strategic alliances with other Camorra families, such as the Mazzarella clan and the Luongo group of San Giorgio a Cremano, but has also found itself involved in blood feuds with rival clans, including the Rinaldi and the Reale. With this seizure, the authorities hope to inflict a severe blow to the finances of the criminal organization, undermining its operational capacity on the territory.
The assets seized include members of the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, financial relationships, as well as companies operating in the wholesale and retail trade of petroleum products and lubricants. The total value of the assets seized amounts to approximately 6 million euros.
