On Saturday 23 November 2024, at 10:30 am, in the suggestive Sala Ostrichina of the Parco Vanvitelliano del Fusaro, the conference will be held "From the Viticulture Heroic at the City of Wine” to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the DOP of the wines of the Campi Flegrei. Theevent's audience, organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Wines of the Campi Flegrei and Ischia, represents a moment of reflection on the winemaking tradition of the area and on the future prospects of the wine tourism sector.
The day will see the participation of numerous institutional, technical and academic figures, with the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Masaf. After the greetings of the Mayor of Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, the works will be opened by Michele Farro, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Wines of the Phlegraean Fields and Ischia, and from Andrea D'Ambra, Oenologist and Ischia Island Manager for the Consortium, together with Angelo Radica, President of the National Association of Wine Cities.
The round table will feature industry experts such as Professor Daniele Marrama of the Federico II University of Napoli, which underlines the strategic importance of the link between Bacoli and the National Association of Wine Cities: “Bacoli's membership in this network represents a unique opportunity to promote sustainable tourism through wine, not only as a product of excellence but also as an expression of history, tradition and local culture”.
Also present will be: Salvatore Loffreda by Coldiretti Campania, Eleonora Iacovoni of Masaf, and other institutional and technical representatives, including Happy Absence, Head of the ICQRF MASAF Department, and the General Cyrus Long, Regional Commander of the Carabinieri Forestali of Campania. The event will be moderated by the food and wine journalist Luciano Pignataro.
The conclusions will be entrusted to important figures such as Nicholas Caputo, Councillor for Agriculture of the Campania Region, and the Honourable Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, which will highlight the strategic value of the wine sector for the local and national economy.
At the end of the conference, participants will be able to immerse themselves in a food and wine experience: a guided tasting of the Consortium's wines by the sommelier Pasquale Brillante (Amira Campania), accompanied by local gastronomic delicacies prepared by the chef Michael the Great of the La Bifora Restaurant in Bacoli.
For the President of the Consortium, Michele Farro, this celebration is the result of a long commitment to promoting the wine heritage of the Campi Flegrei: “We are not only celebrating the 30th anniversary of the DOP, but also a new chapter for Bacoli, which with its membership in the Città del Vino Association is projecting itself towards a national and international dimension”.
