Naples is struggling with a serious health crisis. The lack of doctors family is putting a strain on primary care in the city, leaving thousands of citizens without a key point of reference for their health.
Nino Simeon, president of the first council commission of Napoli, raised the alarm, underlining how this situation is compromising the right to health of many Neapolitans, especially the elderly and the most fragile people.
According to data provided by ASL Napoli 1 Centro, in the face of over 440 shortages of family doctors at the regional level, of which 74 in Naples alone, less than half of the available positions have been assigned. This delay in assignments, combined with the resignations of some doctors already assigned, is further aggravating the situation.
“It is unacceptable that so many citizens find themselves without a family doctor,” he declared Simeon. “The institutions must intervene urgently to find a solution to this emergency, which risks having significant repercussions on public health.”
