Naples. A moment of distraction cost a 25-year-old from Colli Aminei dearly, robbed of her smartphone. The young woman was walking when Giuseppe Caliano, a 39-year-old originally from Naples, approached her on a scooter. With a lightning-fast gesture, the man snatched the phone from her hands and ran away.
The Carabinieri of the Capodimonte Station, engaged in specific anti-pickpocketing checks in the area, intervened immediately. Thanks to the analysis of video surveillance images, the military were able to reconstruct the route of the scooter and track down the person responsible at his home.
Caliano was arrested and is now in prison arrest awaiting trial. He will have to answer to the charge of theft by snatching.
