La Salernitana 1919 has officially relieved Giovanni Martusciello of his duties as first team coach. The decision came after a series of disappointing results that prompted the management to consider a change in technical leadership in the hope of giving the team a decisive boost.
In the official press release, the company underlined Martusciello's attachment to the cause, thanking him for his dedication and the work he carries out daily with great seriousness. “Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Martusciello and our best wishes for a professional future full of satisfaction,” it is stated in the note released by the club.
Salernitana has already identified Martusciello's replacement: Stefano Colantunono. It hasn't been made official yet, but Colantuono, currently in charge of the club's youth sector, is a well-known figure to Campania fans, having already led Salernitana on three different occasions, the last of which in the final phase of last season.
In the morning, Colantuono had a decisive meeting with sports director Gianluca Petrachi, before accepting the club's invitation to return to the bench. His first training session is scheduled for next Wednesday, when the new cycle under his guidance will officially begin. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
