Alessandro Nesta is no longer the coach of Monza . The Brianza-based club has decided to change course after yet another league defeat, suffered at home to Juventus . Salvatore Bocchetti has taken his place , called upon to revive a struggling team.
The decision to relieve Nesta of his duties came after a disappointing run of results. In 17 Serie A matches , Monza has collected just 10 points , the result of one win , seven draws , and nine defeats , placing them last in the table. Despite some encouraging performances, the team has failed to deliver the results needed to climb the table. The defeat in the direct clash against Lecce had already put Nesta on the brink, but the home defeat against the Bianconeri was decisive for the change in management.
Now it will be up to Salvatore Bocchetti , former AC Milan and Genoa defender , to revive the team's fortunes. The new coach, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2027 , returns to a Serie A bench after his experience at Verona . Bocchetti also took over during the season, managing to lead the team to safety thanks to a play-off victory against Spezia . The Biancorossi fans are hoping for a similar outcome for Monza, who will face two crucial challenges for their future.
On Saturday, at 3:00 PM , Monza will visit Parma , who are coming off a heavy 5-0 defeat against Roma and are struggling with results. Then, in their first match of 2025 , Monza will host Cagliari , third-from-bottom in the table. Nesta's dismissal represents the fifth technical change since the start of the championship. Before him, Daniele De Rossi was sacked by Roma after the fourth matchday, replaced by Ivan Juric , who was then fired in turn to make way for Claudio Ranieri.
Lecce have also changed coaches, moving from Luca Gotti to Marco Giampaolo , while at Genoa , Alberto Gilardino was replaced in November by Frenchman Patrick Vieira .
