An arsenal hidden between home and appurtenances: the State Police arrested a 76-year-old man last night in Ottaviano for illegal possession of clandestine weapons, illegal possession of ammunition and unauthorized management of special waste.
The operation, conducted by the agents of the San Giuseppe Vesuviano Police Station, is part of the controls intensified by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat the phenomenon of illicit possession of weapons. During the search of the 76-year-old's home, the police found two blank pistols, 101 blank bullets and 85 hunting ammunition of various calibers.
The suspicions prompted the officers to extend the checks to an external area belonging to the building, for the exclusive use of the man. Among various types of special waste, they discovered a 9mm “Beretta” pistol with the serial number erased, a disassembled blank pistol, 12 empty magazines and 123 cartridges of various calibers, of which 42 were blanks.
That's not all: in a closet they also found a katana and a billhook, while in the man's car there was hidden a 9mm “Bruni” pistol loaded with 10 blank cartridges.
The 76-year-old was arrested and also reported for unauthorized waste management, having accumulated materials considered dangerous on his property.
