The Guardia di Finanza of Salerno has seized over 3.400 Counterfeit Ceramic Gift Items, reproducing the brands of well-known luxury brands such as Tiffany & Co, Chanel, Supreme, Hermès Paris, Rolex, Gucci, Prada, Christian Dior, Ducati Corse, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton.
Article Key Points
The operation, carried out in recent days on the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, also led to the seizure of 175 meters of film with false labels, intended for the production of further illicit products. If placed on the market, these articles would have generated a turnover of over 750.000 €.
The investigative activity originated from an inspection carried out by the finance police of the Battipaglia Company at a commercial establishment, which allowed them to trace a factory located in Scafati, used for the production and storage of counterfeit goods. Here, the Guardia di Finanza also identified equipment for printing trademarks, attributable to a local seventy year old, who was reported to the Judicial Authority.
The legal consequences
The seizure is a precautionary measure, subject to possible appeal. The charges formulated against the suspect will be evaluated by the judge in the subsequent phases of the proceedings. The operation is part of the broader commitment of the Guardia di Finanza of protection of legality and intellectual property, countering a phenomenon that damages both the companies that own the brands and the consumers, who are often unaware of the illicit origin of the products purchased.
