Naples. Following the collapse of the Vela Celeste in Scampia, the municipal administration of Napoli has implemented a complex plan of interventions to assist displaced families.

By the deadline, 219 families, for a total of over 800 people, had applied to access the social contribution. This data highlights the urgent need for support for a community that is severely tested.

Evacuation: It is necessary to have abandoned temporary reception facilities and be in a situation of housing vulnerability.
Census: To be included in the census of displaced families drawn up by the Municipality of Naples in 2023.
How the contribution works
The social contribution is structured in several payments:
First tranche: It corresponds to three months' salary and is intended to support families in dealing with initial expenses, such as the deposit for new accommodation.
Subsequent disbursements: Planned on a monthly basis, they are intended to guarantee continuous support over time.
Alternatives to hotel accommodation
For families in particularly fragile conditions, the Municipality has provided the possibility of temporary accommodation in a hotel. However, this solution has a maximum duration of 30 days. After this period, families will necessarily have to access the social contribution to find stable accommodation.
The next phases
The Municipal Administration is working to examine all the applications received and start the procedures for the disbursement of the contribution. At the same time, the operations of clearing the apartments of Vela Celeste and securing the area are underway.
