The inaugural press conference of the eighth edition of the Milano Music Week took place today. An event that promises to transform the city of Milan into a true crossroads of musical talent from November 18 to 24, thanks to a rich program of concerts, DJ sets, interviews with artists, panels, workshops and unique meetings. The initiative, supported by Assomusica together with other organizations in the music sector, is a joint effort to promote Italian music both nationally and internationally.

### The Record for Live Music in Italy

Opening the speeches was Carlo Parodi, President of Assomusica, who enthusiastically revealed the data provided by SIAE: “With 24 million spectators and over 36.000 concerts, the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019 have been doubled”. These extraordinary numbers describe a music scene in continuous growth, capable of attracting masses and providing a safe and engaging experience for the public.

### Legal Challenges and Export Support

Despite the evident success, Parodi highlighted some critical issues related to the sector: “The Entertainment Code has not yet seen the light and this generates a lot of discontent among operators”. The current legislation, dating back to 1967, limits the development opportunities for profit-making companies in live music, excluding them from crucial economic incentives. In contrast, the President of Assomusica recognized the importance of ICE’s support in promoting the internationalization of Italian music: “Thanks to ICE’s support, Italian music was a great protagonist at WOMEX in Manchester”.

### A Message to Choose with the Heart

Concluding his speech, Parodi shared a message of hope and reflection, alluding to international difficulties: “Before making difficult decisions, I invite those who are called to make important choices to stop and attend a concert.” An invitation to find in music a guide towards wiser and more humane solutions, in times of conflict and global uncertainty.

Milano Music Week, supported by important entities of the Italian music scene such as Assoconcerti, FIMI, NUOVO IMAIE and SIAE, is an unmissable event in the city's cultural calendar, promising an unrepeatable experience for all music lovers.
