Portici – For days, the license plate of a red Alfa Romeo Giulietta had been under scrutiny by Carabinieri officers from all stations and companies in the Vesuvian area.

The car, reported for a series of thefts in the municipalities on the slopes of Vesuvius, had become the target of patrols, who had memorized every detail. The turning point came during the night, when the car was spotted on Via Leonardo Da Vinci in Portici.

The chase was intense. The Giulietta, quick and fast, tried to lose the soldiers, but the experience and knowledge of the territory by the Carabinieri of the Portici station made the difference. Guided by surgical precision, they pushed the fugitives towards Viale Tiziano, where a dead end put an end to the race.

The Giulietta stopped in front of a building, blocked by the Carabinieri “gazzella”, strategically positioned to close off any escape route. But the situation worsened when the two criminals, instead of surrendering, put the car in reverse. One of the soldiers, just getting out of the car, was violently hit by the fleeing car.

With heroic timing, the carabiniere managed to avoid being crushed between the two vehicles by throwing himself to the side. However, he injured his knee on impact. Despite the blow, the patrol maintained its position, preventing the Giulietta from moving. The two men, however, took advantage of the chaos to escape on foot, disappearing into the dark streets.

Two cash registers full of cash recovered

Inside the car, the police they found burglary tools and two cash registers full of cash, presumably stolen from two other businesses in the area. The investigation is now focused on identifying and capturing the two fugitives, while the wounded soldier was treated and is expected to recover without serious consequences.

The red Juliet, symbol of a night of tension and courage, ended up in the hands of the police, but the hunt for the two criminals is still open.

It's a complicated situation, it seems that the carabinieri did a great job to stop that car. But I don't understand how the criminals managed to escape so easily. There should be more safety on the streets.
