In 2024, “red code” crimes increased significantly in Campania

The “red code” cases treated in the regions Campania, Basilicata and Molise “have increased significantly” in 2024 compared to the previous year. This is what is underlined by the Operations Centre for the Safety cybernetics Campania, Basilicata and Molise in the annual report on crime that concern the person.

“In Campania, 342 cases were handled, 84 people were reported at liberty and two individuals were arrested – it is stated -. With regard to the Basilicata region, 40 cases were handled in relation to crimes of s, revenge porn, sex extortion and harassment. The Molise region's enforcement activity, on the other hand, has recorded 42 cases treated with 29 people reported in a state of freedom.

The Operations Center for Cyber ​​Security Campania, Basilicata and Molise in 2024 dealt with, among many, 32 significant cyber attacks, issuing numerous alerts to prevent and counter attacks on computerized systems of national and regional interest. In reference to the fight against cyberterrorism and in order to identify threats to the correct management of public order and safety, network monitoring was significantly increased compared to the previous year, with the analysis of 6.131 virtual spaces and websites.

Campania: 2024 cases of computer fraud recorded in 2.200

The fight against cyber financial crime has seen a persistent spread of crimes against property in the regions of Campania, Basilicata and Molise, under the jurisdiction of the Cyber ​​Security Operations Centre, and in particular, fraud using IT tools and computer fraud, with large amounts stolen, also affecting victims over 65 years of age.

The main criminal phenomena observed concern phishing campaigns (also in the variants of the so-called "vishing" and the so-called "smishing") especially to the detriment of natural persons, with the increase in the so-called Bec fraud and Ceo fraud and real estate fraud. Specifically, as regards the counter-activity conducted by the Cosc in Campania against this type of crime, this has, overall, led to the handling of over 2.200 cases, the referral of 330 people in a state of freedom and the arrest of 20 individuals.
