A tragic road accident occurred yesterday afternoon on the state road 100 “Di Gioia del Colle”, at the height of Mottola in the province of Taranto.
The head-on collision between two cars caused the death of three people, all from Calabria, and injured three others.
The victims are a 32-year-old boy and two girls aged 26 and 23.
The injured, a family from Taranto consisting of a mother, father and 50-year-old son, were transported in red code to the Ss. Annunziata hospital.
Their conditions are not serious. The carabinieri, firefighters and 118 personnel intervened on the spot.
State road 100 was temporarily closed to traffic to allow for rescue operations and surveys.
This is the second fatal accident on the same stretch of road in just a few months.
Last November, in fact, three soldiers and a 60-year-old man died in another head-on collision.
Anas has ordered an inspection to verify the condition of the road surface and road signs.
