But the sensational news is the acquittal and release from prison of the boss Gesualdo Sartori, boss of the Mazzarella clan who was arrested last August on the beach of Castel Volturno after a period of fugitiveism.
The public prosecutor of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) had requested a ten-year prison sentence for Sartori, but the defense arguments of his lawyer, Leopoldo Perone, prevailed, demonstrating that his client had nothing to do with the affair.

A total of nine defendants received sentences of 40 years and 8 months. The suspects were charged with attempted extortion and threats, crimes made more serious by their mafia purpose.
The investigations date back to last spring, when the torturers allegedly tried to impose an extortionate bribe of 500 euros on the occasion of Easter, which was followed by a request for 10 thousand euros.
On one occasion, the victim's father was reportedly even taken away and brought before the De Martino brothers, with the threat "Giovanni must bring 10.000 euros or we'll kill him."
However, the evidence collected by the investigators allowed them to acquit Aldo Sartori, initially believed to be involved in the affair only for having made his home available.
