Naples. It may be true what the chief prosecutor said Nicola Gratteri that the Camorra has evolved rather "I found it evolved" but still uses old and ferocious methods such as death threats to the families of repentants to make them desist.

And this is what was discovered by investigating the boss's family nucleus Patrizio Bosti founder together with the two brothers-in-law Mallardo and Contini of the powerful Alliance of Aecondigliano with the Licciardi.

The boss, detained in prison by a new order about ten days after his release, did not hesitate to threaten to hang his son-in-law Luke Esposito who for a period had decided to collaborate with justice (he did so three years ago when he was stopped with his wife Maria, another daughter of Bosti while they were trying to go to Dubai with false green passes still in the Covid era).

Patrizio Bosti: an unscrupulous boss

The DDA investigations reveal the portrait of a ruthless boss, ready to do anything to maintain power. Patrizio Bosti did not hesitate to threaten his nephews with death in order to silence his son-in-law Luke Esposito, a collaborator of justice who had revealed some of the clan's secrets. He let his two nephews know that he was ready to hurt them and even hang their father. And the cryptic threats were sent to Esposito in prison through letters that were only apparently affectionate.

The Continis are considered the most powerful clan in Naples, rivaled only by the Casalesi in terms of hegemony in Campania. From their headquarters in San Giovanniello, between Amicizia and Arenaccia, they weave a web of power that spans ten city districts. Their influence dates back to the 70s, when the Camorra emerged as a criminal organization.

Alliances and Business

Alongside the Mallardos and the Licciardis, the Contini They formed the Secondigliano Alliance in the 80s. This alliance strengthened their control and expanded their illicit trafficking. Their main activities include drug money laundering and extortion, channels through which the proceeds are laundered and infiltrated into the city's healthy economic fabric.

A blow to the heart of the clan

The recent joint operations of the Prosecutor's Office, Carabinieri, Police and Guardia di Finanza have hit the Bostis hard, in particular the group of Patrizio, a leading figure in the clan. The Bostis, linked to the Continis by marriage, represent an important branch of the clan.

New accusations and a clan under siege

The arrest warrant led to the arrest of Patrizio Bosti and his children Flora and Ettore, as well as Luca Esposito himself. The charges against them include serious threats and attempts to obstruct cooperation with justice. The operation represents a severe blow to the Contini family, who find themselves facing a new challenge in their struggle for power and territorial control.

The Gray Zone: Where the Clan Meets the Legal Economy

Targeting the Continis also means targeting the gray area of the economy, the area where illegal activities intertwine with legal ones. This is where the clan launders its profits, polluting the healthy business environment and fueling corruption. Law enforcement's action aims to dismantle this system, severing the clan's ties to legal activities, depriving it of a crucial source of power and consensus.

Gratteri: "The fight against the Camorra continues."

The operation against the Continis is an important step in the fight against the Camorra, but the road to defeating this cancer is still long. Unwavering commitment from institutions, law enforcement, and the public is needed to eradicate corruption from its roots and build a better future for Naples and the entire Campania region.

"I'm not a historical expert on the Camorra. I'm learning, I'm trying to bring my method to this Prosecutor's Office, and I'm still teaching driving lessons. But it's obvious that, when I see this wealth and this criminal target, it's clear that we're dealing with an advanced structure within the Camorra world."

Naples prosecutor Nicola Gratteri said this, commenting on the seizure of €4 million and €5 million in luxury jewelry and watches from a home owned by a senior member of the Contini Camorra clan, one of the recipients of the warrant executed yesterday.

"One of the first things that surprised me here in Naples," Gratteri added, "is seeing a Camorra that is very advanced on the entrepreneurial level, and therefore very wealthy."
