On the occasion of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of its foundation, the University of Napoli Frederick II inaugurates an ambitious internationalization program, starting from New York, the global epicenter of finance and innovation, where the university has already opened a branch.
On October 22 and 23, at the Tata Center, located on Roosevelt Island in New York, the University of Frederick will meet the American scientific and business community. The aim is to present the university's educational offerings and research activities to a global audience, as well as to strengthen ties with universities and institutions on the East Coast.
The event program also includes a session dedicated to technology transfer and open innovation, topics on which Federico II is at the forefront thanks to important collaborations with internationally renowned companies such as Apple, Cisco, Accenture, Merck and Deloitte, and Italian partners such as Leonardo. During the conference, initiatives related to the start-up incubator, which represents one of the university's flagships, will also be presented.
“After the forced break due to the pandemic, we are finally operational in New York at the Tata Center of Cornell Tech, with an event that will see the participation of a delegation of professors from Federico II and numerous American diplomatic, corporate and academic representatives with whom we collaborate,” declared Matteo Lorito, Rector of Federico II. “The celebrations for the 800th anniversary of our foundation represent the ideal opportunity to take this important step towards a broader internationalization of our research and training activities.”
Lorito also announced that, following the event in New York, the university will also be a protagonist in Washington during the annual meeting of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), an organization that has been promoting ties between Italy and the United States for years.
The program of the event at New York is packed with events, with keynote speakers, including Rector Lorito, the Consul General of Italy in New York, Fabrizio Di Michele, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, Fabio Finotti, and the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations, Maurizio Massari. Keynote speakers also include prestigious personalities such as Luciano Floridi of Yale University, Antonio Ereditato of the University of Chicago, Lisa Jackson of Apple, and Massimo Deandreis of Intesa Sanpaolo.
