Fear in Vomero yesterday morning, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro, where a man sowed panic among passers-by. Salvatore Esposito, 54, resident in Fuorigrotta and already known to the police, was reported for illegal possession of a weapon after threatening those present by brandishing a metal stick.
Dozens of reports were received by 112. Witnesses reported a man in an obvious state of agitation who was shouting insults and threats, audible even with the windows closed, despite the traffic and the horns that filled the air of the square. His presence sparked fears that he might commit extreme acts, and some said they thought the worst when they observed his unpredictable behavior.
A particularly tense episode occurred when one of the passers-by, exasperated by the provocations, decided to react by pushing Esposito, who fell to the ground. It was at that moment that the carabinieri of the PMZ station Vomero they intervened. Arriving quickly on the scene, they found the man still on the ground, blocking him and seizing the metal stick. Salvatore Esposito was reported for illegal possession of a weapon.

I heard that there were problems at Vomero yesterday, but I don't understand why people react like this. It's not normal to be afraid to go out. I hope the situation gets resolved soon, but I don't know how the police manage these things.
