The cleanup and disposal operations of waste washed up along the coast continue without stopping in Sorrento. A crucial initiative to protect the marine environment and preserve the natural beauty of the renowned tourist destination. The recent storm surges have in fact dumped large quantities of debris, especially plastic, on the beaches, making prompt intervention necessary to avoid further damage to the ecosystem.
The operations, already concluded in the areas of Marina Grande e Marina Piccola, will continue in the next few days with the reclamation of the beach of Puolo. “We acted quickly to prevent beached waste from being washed back into the sea by future storm surges,” declared Luigi Di Prisco, President of the City Council. “This is an action aimed not only at protecting our sea, but also at ensuring the protection of our community and the image of Sorrento as a tourist destination of excellence.”
The interventions, carried out efficiently thanks to the collaboration of the company Green Peninsula, have already led to the removal of a large amount of plastic, one of the main enemies of the marine ecosystem. “This initiative represents a further step towards sustainable management of our natural resources,” added Di Prisco. “Protecting the environment is a priority for our administration, and we will continue to work to ensure that Sorrento remains a unique place, in harmony with its natural heritage.”

It is important that they continue to clean the beaches because waste can damage the marine environment. I hope that these interventions are more frequent and that people respect nature more and do not throw away plastic.
