An unprecedented operation in the logistics sector has led to the seizure of 46,8 million euros from DHL Express Italy , by order of the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office.
At the same time, the Carabinieri for the Protection of Labor carried out a broad control activity throughout the country, involving 45 hubs and companies distributed across 30 provinces , including Milan, Turin , Padua, Udine, Ancona, Naples, Bari and Catania.
During the operation, the military checked 918 workers , 676 of whom were interviewed by investigators to learn more about their working conditions, pay, and employment practices . The operation is part of an investigation into illegal labor supply and gangmastering , phenomena that have long threatened the logistics sector.
Operationally, 250 Carabinieri officers from the Labor Protection Command and 150 military personnel from the provincial Carabinieri Commands were involved , confirming the breadth and sensitivity of the investigation. The investigation will continue to determine any further responsibilities in the workforce management sector.
