Absurd evening of violence yesterday in the adjacent street of prison of Poggioreale a Napoli.

“At around 20pm, the territorial patrol of the Penitentiary Police responsible for external control of the prison, ascertained the presence of two people, a man and a woman, who, with a megaphone, they were talking to some detainees in the cell, on the side of the Rome and Florence departments”, explains Tiziana Guacci, regional secretary for Campania of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police.

“The patrol officers then asked them to move away, considering that obviously it is not possible to conduct an interview in that way but that there are suitable rooms inside the prison.

On the second lap of the patrol, however, the colleagues noted that the man and the woman were still there and, when asked to show their documents, in response they first refused to show them, then threatened the prison officers and finally attacked them with unheard of violence, so much so that one of the two colleagues was later given a thirty-day prognosis: five, instead, for the other colleague".

Guacci, who stigmatizes the serious episode and expresses the solidarity of the first Union of the Corps, the two Agents JUICES, adds that “a police patrol then intervened on the scene and the man and woman were stopped and taken to the police station, while the two members of the Penitentiary Police returned to the Command in the middle of the night, around 4 this morning.

For the two arrested, the Public Prosecutor on duty has ordered the detention of the two and the trial with a direct procedure".

The Secretary General of SAPPE Donato Capece stigmatizes the serious episode and expresses solidarity with the police officers involved and injured: “With this further serious critical event, the number of police officers involved without hesitation in serious matters has risen dramatically.

We express our utmost solidarity and closeness to all colleagues of the Poggioreale Department. It would be appropriate to equip the Penitentiary Police with a taser as soon as possible or, in any case, with another instrument useful for defending themselves from the violence of criminals who have no respect for the rules and the people who represent the State”.

For this reason, the first Union of Penitentiary Police addresses in particular the Head of the Department of Penitentiary Administration Giovanni Russo.
