The wild parking that is gripping the Spanish Quarters has once again hindered an ambulance that got “caught” in one of the alleys of the characteristic maze of the place.
A resident reported this to the Green-Left alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“While I was going home to the Spanish Quarters at Vico Canale in Taverna Penta, an ambulance got stuck, before reaching the patient, between a building where there is scaffolding and the opposite side where cars and motorbikes were parked without any criteria.
The street is already narrow and this way of parking hinders emergency vehicles. Years ago an entire family died during a fire that broke out in their apartment because the fire brigade was unable to arrive in time due to illegal parking.
The ambulance was stuck for a long time with its sirens blaring.”
"The Spanish Quarters need a High Impact Intervention to combat illegal parking and eliminate illegal poles used to create private parking spaces on public land.
Constant vigilance is also needed and those who violate the rules must be severely punished. Interrupting a public service is serious, and it is even more serious if an emergency vehicle in action is blocked. Before another tragedy occurs, we must intervene.” –Borrelli’s words.
