A 64 year old man, Lucio Iorillo, former worker of the Taburno Mountain Community, was accused of organizing the murder of Giuseppe Matarazor, the pastor who raped his 2007-year-old daughter in 15. The girl, unable to bear the trauma she had suffered, had taken her own life a few months after the abuse.
According to the prosecution, Iorillo had been hatching his plan for revenge for over ten years, paying two killer 20.000 € to eliminate Matarazzo.
The shepherd, who was released from prison about a month ago after serving his sentence for rape, was murdered by gunshots on July 19, 2018 in front of his house.
The two alleged killers, Giuseppe Massaro e Generous Nasta, had already been sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance by the Assize Court of Benevento in 2021. However, the Court of Cassation annulled the sentence, ordering a new appeal trial.

The sister of Giuseppe Matarazzo in 2018 she promoted an initiative with a funeral poster featuring her brother's photo in which she claimed her relative's innocence regarding the rape of the girl for which he had been in prison for over 10 years and then killed shortly after being released.
