The wild boar emergency continues to worry farmers in Campania, who see their fields devastated and their safety at risk. Coldiretti Campania is launching an urgent appeal for the adoption of a containment plan, urging politicians to break their inertia.
"There is too little talk about wild boars. We do not wait to see new images of devastated fields, destroyed crops and car accidents, even fatal ones, to realize that the emergency is more current than ever", declares Salvatore Loffreda, director of Coldiretti Campania. “It is time to loudly demand a regional law that will definitively clarify the issue.”
In Campania, the presence of 58.000 wild boars is estimated, a number that, added to the data from other regions, brings the total to over two million heads. This real invasion represents not only a risk for citizens, but also an economic tragedy for farmers.
"It is time to ask for an end to inertia and the adoption of a containment plan in all regions of Italy. This is the only way to give a concrete response to farmers and citizens. Coldiretti is ready to do its part and make its voice heard until what is due to farmers, breeders, citizens and consumers arrives", concludes Loffreda.
