As part of the “Quiet Summer” campaign, the Carabinieri of the NAS of Napoli have intensified the Checks to ensure food and health safety during the summer season. The inspection activities involved restaurants, agritourism businesses, campsites, beach resorts and fishmongers throughout the province.
Since the beginning of the summer, 150 checks have been carried out by NAS Carabinieri, which have led to significant results. Sixty-one owners of food supply and sales activities have been reported to the Administrative Authority. The contested administrative sanctions amount to 130 thousand euros, and 900 kg of meat and fish products have been seized.
Eight facilities were immediately closed for preparing and serving untraceable foods in unhygienic conditions. In addition, NAS staff took numerous samples of meat products for the search for the ASF virus and fish products re-immersed in uncertified water, with the risk of contamination by “escherichia coli” bacteria.
