Sun and heat on the rise for the weekend in Italy, with temperature peaks above 35°C in the Center-South and on the major islands. However, watch out for strong thunderstorms with risk of hail between Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July, especially in the North.
Meteorologists explain that these two apparently unrelated phenomena are actually linked to climate change.
The increasingly present African anticyclone and the increase in average temperatures are causing greater evaporation of sea water, which fuels thunderstorms and the risk of hail and cloudbursts.
In detail, here are the forecasts for the weekend:
Friday 5 July:
North: Stable weather
Center: Sunny
South: Good weather
Saturday July 6:
North: Showers and thunderstorms in the Alps, sunshine elsewhere
Center: All sun
South: Lots of sunshine
Sunday July 7:
North: Scattered thunderstorms, some intense
Center: Sunnier and drier
South: All sun
Starting next week, the African anticyclone is expected to expand again, bringing increasing sunny and warm weather across Italy.
