San Giorgio a Cremano. Over 5 students from the high schools of San Giorgio a Cremano and Portici marched to remember Santo Romano, the young man who recently passed away due to a dramatic episode of violence. The demonstration was organized by the students, with the support of the mayor Giorgio Zinno and the municipal administration, and has become a strong appeal against violence and the use of weapons.
The peaceful procession, starting from Piazza Massimo Troisi, crossed the main streets of the city until reaching Villa Vannucchi, where testimonies and speeches followed one another. Alongside the students, there were the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the city councilors, several members of the council, the school principals and the parents of the students, all united in the memory of Santo and in the firm condemnation of any form of violence.
“These kids show us the best side of the new generations – declared the mayor Zinno – who choose to distance themselves from those who sow hatred and violence and instead commit themselves to the future of our territories. They are aware and responsible young people, ready to build a community based on mutual respect and solidarity. As an administration, we will commit ourselves even more to supporting initiatives that combat the culture of violence. We stand beside these young people, to encourage and support them on their journey towards a better society.”
Zinno He then publicly thanked the students for their determination and courage in organizing the event, underlining the importance of initiatives like this one to build a more united and peaceful community. “In memory of Saint – concluded the mayor – Let us continue to work for a society that rejects all forms of violence, defending the most precious gifts we have: life and freedom.”
