A company in the hearing aid sector based in the province of Naples has ended up at the centre of a major investigation by the Labour Inspectorate, the Guardia di Finanza and of the INPS, following numerous complaints from former employees who had not received their salaries for months.
Among the workers who found themselves without a job and without the possibility of applying for unemployment, there are also several from Portici. The deputy of the 5 Star Movement, Alessandro Caramiello, also intervenes on the case: "In recent days we learned through the pages of a national newspaper what would appear to be a scandal, but above all an abuse to the detriment of hundreds of workers who for months have been denied their salary.
The situation is even more serious, according to the testimonies and the ongoing investigation, since the former employees of the hearing aid company, after having asked for compensation, were fired without even being able to ask for unemployment, as the company had not paid contributions to the workers”.
According to the news and investigations, it would seem that the company with several stores throughout Italy, has used dozens of companies to hire employees without paying contributions. There are just as many complaints from former workers who have turned to the Labor Inspectorate and the Guardia di Finanza to report this anomalous situation.
“I am ready to support the workers who have suffered this scam, I will ask for thorough checks by the police and I invite anyone who needs legal support to come to our office in Portici” – continues the Honorable Alessandro Caramiello. “From what we know, there are about 200 employees who have not received at least three months' wages and who have also been denied the right to apply for unemployment.
According to the testimonies, also present on the various social groups in which they denounce the company, the company would still be active and would regularly carry out its activity, with arrears towards employees for thousands and thousands of euros. It is not possible to tolerate exploitation of work like this even today. There will be all the necessary checks.”
