Investigations closed into the tragic death of Ugo Manganaro, the 34-year-old fisherman struck by lightning in Vico Equense on November 22, 2022.
The Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office has registered six people under investigation, including Enel executives and owners of accommodation facilities, on charges of manslaughter.
The investigations revealed that Manganaro's death was not caused by lightning, as initially assumed, but by an electrical discharge resulting from a fault in the electrical cabin in the area, which had been malfunctioning for some time due to a lack of maintenance.
During a violent storm, the victim received a powerful shock while leaning on some metal panels of a kiosk connected to the faulty electrical system.
The family Manganaro, assisted by the lawyer Enrica Visconti, had filed a complaint, requesting further investigations into the causes of the tragedy. Subsequent investigations confirmed their suspicions, highlighting serious irregularities in the management of the electrical fault.”
