World Poetry Day was celebrated in Ischia for the second consecutive year, with enthusiastic participation at the Antoniana Municipal Library. The event, established by UNESCO in 1999, was organized by journalist and author Ciro Cenatiempo and introduced by Lucia Annicelli, director of the library.
Numerous participants contributed to the initiative, with literary contributions from different cities such as Paris, Mantua and Naples.
An Evening of Reading and Sharing
During the meeting, which saw a large participation of the public, the writer Pino Macrì presented together with Rosa Macrì some preview passages of his next novel entitled “La felicità breve di Pietro e Leida”. Macrì underlined the importance of celebrating the World Poetry Day, highlighting the role of narrative readings in the evening. Ciro Cenatiempo gave his contribution by reading unpublished texts, described as “emotional chronicles”. The event aimed to valorize local poets who, as explained by Cenatiempo, often do not find many opportunities to make themselves known.
The Value of Intimacy and Comparison
Lucia Annicelli expressed satisfaction with the success of the event, noting its role in bringing the community together. She emphasized how the positive response from the public helps to pursue the goal of sharing intimacy through the emotions of poetry. The event offered a unique opportunity to explore and express deep emotions and thoughts through poetry, actively involving the local community.

It was a very nice event but I thought there would be more poets than those who showed up. Poetry is an important art form for all of us and should be more valued in public events.
