The plan to upgrade the railway line between Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia gets to the heart of the matter: the technical table set up between Autonomous Body Volturno (EAV), Municipality of Castellammare and Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Naples approved the projects related to the doubling of the railway line, identifying functional solutions for the city's infrastructural developments.

The announcement was made by the same EAV, who in an official note illustrated the details of the final meeting held on 13 March at the Stabia Town Hall. During the meeting, the following were select the most suitable project ideas for urban redevelopment, with particular attention toex Nuove Terme area, above the EAV station, where the Region Campania will make a new hospital complex.

The identified works aim to ensure a better connection between the city centre and the new hospital area, through a system of intermodal mobility. EAV, as the implementing body of the Region, will start the next few days technical-economic feasibility design phase for the implementation of the interventions.

Among the works that will be discussed and approved in the conference of services, scheduled for May 2025, stand out an inclined elevator, directly connected to Piazza Unità d'Italia through one override plate and nature walk, which will provide a pedestrian alternative to the elevator. The recovery of the underground parking project at Monte Solaro, already approved in 2019 but remained pending.

A step forward for the development of the city

The new infrastructures represent a fundamental step for the modernization of the city's transport network and for the integration of new strategic services. "This is an essential intervention for ensure citizens have efficient connections between the centre and the hospital area, thus improving the quality of urban mobility and accessibility to services”, underlines EAV.

  1. It is a good step forward for the city, but one wonders why it took so long to approve such important projects. Let's hope that the works will be completed on schedule and without any hitches.
