Aversa. With a note the Diocese of Aversa intervened on the unfortunate episode in which the priest beat up a believer for an offering of 25 euros, considered too low for a funeral.
“With regard to the widely reported news by the media about a fight that occurred yesterday morning, near a church in Aversa, between a parish priest and a citizen, the Diocese of Aversa expresses its regret for what happened and activates its canonical bodies responsible for shedding full light on the incident.
We also express our closeness to any person who may feel harmed and declare ourselves available to continue the dialogue already undertaken to restore serenity in the lives of all those who were involved in the incident.”
