Arzano. Funeral homes banned for mafia: funeral posters posted in the city.
City at the mercy of the clans. The local government office of the Prefecture has reportedly started checks on the civil registry offices of the municipalities of Arzano, Casoria and Casavatore, guilty of having authorized funerals to companies suspected of being linked to the Camorra despite the mortuary police regulation requiring annual review of the permit and mandatory checks of the requirements by the municipalities themselves.
The excessive power of some funeral agencies or their representatives linked to the Ferone clan finds no respite, despite the investigations. Indeed, it would not be rare to come across anonymous funeral posters in the last month.
On January 3, 2023, the thirtieth day posters of the company PIS&S srls, banned for mafia reasons since 2020, appeared on the city streets and on December 4, 2022, they held the funeral of a citizen of Arzano.
In fact, other funeral agencies, in order to avoid incurring sanctions due to wild postings with the failure to pay government concessions, have allegedly devised the stratagem of not printing the company name on the obituaries.
As proof of how much this activity attracts the attention of organized crime, the arrests and anti-mafia interdictions issued following the investigations carried out by the police forces that allowed the uncovering of a million-dollar “business”.
Precisely the management of the funeral home, in August 2022 after the investigations of the local police started in 2019, and after having ascertained the issuing of false certificates, fake Anti-Mafia certifications and omitted controls for Scafuro & Ferone.
A judicial earthquake has been generated in the Municipality, with the issuing of 7 notices of conclusion of preliminary investigations against officials, former municipal managers, traffic police and individuals linked to the Ferone clan, accused to varying degrees of the crimes of ideological forgery and in public documents in complicity, material forgery committed by a public official, abuse and omission in official acts.
According to rumors to be verified, some users would have found at the bedside of the deceased people close to the former Scafuro managers, who would propose, depending on the moment, neighboring agencies as a Trojan horse. In short, despite the reassurances from the government palace, the municipality of Arzano is not living an easy moment with the sword of Damocles of the sending of commissioners.
