The Forestry Unit of the Carabinieri of Capaccio Paestum, together with the Prevention Department of the Veterinary Service and the voluntary environmental guards of the Provincial Kronos Unit of Salerno, carried out the seizure of a buffalo farm of approximately 13 thousand square meters in Iscarotonda, Eboli, near the Sele river.
The perpetrators were reported for animal cruelty and violation of environmental and urban planning regulations. Unauthorized works were carried out within the buffer zone of the Sele River, including a stable area of approximately 3 square meters and service roads of approximately one thousand square meters, built by dumping waste construction material.
In addition, dumps of sewage and other waste from the livestock were found directly in the riverbed. It was also found that several animals were malnourished to the point of not being able to walk.
