This afternoon, the wanted Colombian RGO, extradited from Portugal following the SIEP arrest warrant for international drug trafficking, arrived at Fiumicino airport.
The man, who had been on the run for 32 years, was arrested on March 7 by the Portuguese authorities at Porto airport, as part of a joint operation by the Flying Squad of Napoli, of the GICO of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza and of the Operational Department - Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Naples, supported by various international offices of the DEA

Sentenced definitively to 15 years of imprisonment for crimes related to international drug trafficking, the man had disappeared in 1992 when he escaped the execution of a custody order issued following investigations by the State Police.
International and European searches were crucial in identifying the fugitive, with the support of the Ministry of the Interior's International Police Cooperation Service, which led to the man's arrest while he was travelling from Canada to Portugal.
