A new initiative is taking shape in the healthcare landscape of the province of Salerno thanks to the collaboration between the AOU San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d'Aragona, the Ail Salerno Association, and the generous support of the community. This is the Experimental Project 'Hospital at Home', designed to provide assistance to hematologic oncology patients who, for various reasons, encounter difficulties in independently accessing the specialized hospital department.
The heart of this project lies in meeting the real and immediate needs of patients, especially those without a family support network or with limited personal autonomy. Ruggi's vision is aligned with the principles of humanizing care and complete patient availability, as promoted by the Salerno Health Authority.
The 'Hospital at the Patient's Home' initiative is now a reality thanks to the collaboration between Ail Salerno and the Strategic Management of Ruggi Hospital, supporting vulnerable patients cared for by the Complex Operating Unit of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Center, led by Professor Carmine Selleri.
AIL Salerno President Elvira Tulimieri expressed her great satisfaction with the successful implementation of this synergy between the hospital and the association, acknowledging the numerous donations and support from local donors. Thanks go to Ruggi's Strategic Management, Dr. Antonietta Ferrara, Professor Selleri, and Dr. Bianca Serio, the project's Scientific Director.
The Ruggi Hematology Department will be responsible for delivering care directly to patients' homes, thus joining forces to enhance care and ensure continuity of necessary therapies. This opportunity aims to improve patients' quality of life and give them dignity throughout their treatment journey.
Director D'Amato, on behalf of the entire Strategic Management team, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration and thanks AIL for its valuable contribution. This represents a significant step toward improving the well-being of patients, who remain the primary focus of the local healthcare system.
