Avellino. Gerardo Limongiello, the elderly husband who killed his wife on the morning of May 5, 2021, by suffocating her with a pillow, recently appealed to the Court of Cassation against the conviction handed down by the Naples Court of Assizes of Appeal in February 2024.
The Neapolitan Court, accepting Limongiello's grounds for appeal, had already reduced the sentence handed down in the first instance by the Avellino Tribunal from 21 years to 14 years of imprisonment for aggravated voluntary homicide.

Limongiello, assisted by the lawyer Mario di Salvia of the Avellino court, has proposed a new appeal for a further reduction of the sentence aiming to definitively contain the sentence below 10 years since he was not recognized as having provoked or having acted on the morning ofmurder in a state of anger.
Limongiello awaits the Supreme Court ruling as a free man
A fact that, in his opinion, was not adequately appreciated by the Neapolitan court. The elderly man will be able to attend the hearing in the coming months, free of precautionary restrictions.
