Having entered the judiciary in 1963, he was a magistrate in Reggio Calabria, first in criminal law and then in civil law, until 1970, when he moved to the Tribunal, where he was a member of the panel for five years.

Then he moved to the Office of Investigation, where he remained until 1980.
