In the middle of August, the island of Capri knows no rest. The premises of the “Queen of Rock” are animated by the crowd of the good life, and with it, the police are intensifying their controls. The Carabinieri of the Sorrento company, always vigilant, have patrolled every corner of the island during the weekend, finding 5 grams of cocaine hidden under a vase in a narrow street in the city center. The drug, probably intended for nightlifers looking for a high, was seized before it could be distributed.
During the same checks, two people were reported for drunk driving. Surprisingly, both were driving along the narrow streets of Capri with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The operation of the Carabinieri was not limited to the mainland. Even at sea, with the use of the Capri station boat, the police carried out checks around the Faraglioni to protect the marine ecosystem from overtourism. Several boats were fined for violations of the navigation code.
On the mainland, the action of the Carabinieri extended to Vico Equense, where a 17-year-old from Sant'Antonio Abate was reported for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing, after being found in possession of 8 grams of marijuana during a search. In Sorrento, another 17-year-old was reported for carrying weapons or objects capable of causing offence, after being caught with a knuckle-duster in his pockets.
