The Castello di Arechi, a historic symbol of Salerno, reopens its doors to the public starting tomorrow. After the forced closure last August due to a fire that hit Monte Bonadies, the opening hours will be from 9 am to 17 pm, from Tuesday to Saturday, and from 9 am to 15 pm on Sunday.
“Let's give the city its castle back”, declared Francesco Morra, provincial councilor responsible for Culture, explaining that the closure had become necessary to guarantee the safety of visitors and staff. “The safety conditions were not there after the fire, but today, finally, we can reopen having eliminated the main danger factors”, he added.
The Province of Salerno has carried out important safety measures, in particular the removal of greenery along the path that leads from the lower car park to the upper belvedere. However, some areas still remain inaccessible to visitors: the trail system, including the "Prince's Path" and the two paths that lead to the Bastille, will remain closed until further interventions.
