A pact between politicians and the Camorra in the municipality of Caivano: the anti-mafia prosecutor's office has requested the conviction of 14 people, for a total of over 120 years in prison, involving bosses and associates of the clan led by Antonio Angelino, known as "Tibiuccio."

The alleged boss of Caivano, Angelino, risks 18 years in prison. Even the white-collar workers involved in the illicit activities have been severely hit by the requests of the prosecutor. The former councilor, Carmine Peluso, now a collaborator of justice, has been requested for him a sentence of 6 years.

The operation, which led to the arrest of 18 people in November 2023, represents the second chapter of an investigation that has revealed a consolidated corruption system. The Angelino clan, headed by “Little Tibi”, is accused of having influenced public procurement by infiltrating local administrations.

Local politicians, including a former council member and a former city councilor, are accused of having favored the clan, providing confidential information on tenders in exchange for bribes. In order to obtain the contracts, the entrepreneurs were forced to pay sums of money to both politicians and the clan. The trial is ongoing and the final sentence is expected early next year.

These, in detail, are the requests for punishment advanced yesterday by the prosecutor during the prosecution's closing speech:

  • Giovanbattista Alibrico: 10 years
  • Antonio Angelino: 18 years
  • Gaetano Angelino: 14 years
  • Raffaele Bervicato: 5 years
  • Domenico Celiento: 4 years
  • Vincenzo Celiento: 4 years and 6 months
  • John Cipolletti: 15 years
  • Dominic Of The Cat: 4 years and 8 months
  • Domenico Galdiero: 6 years and 6 months
  • Raphael Lionelli: 10 years
  • Christmas Angel: 6 years and 8 months
  • Carmine Peluso (repentant): 6 years
  • Martin Pezzella: 12 years and 8 months
  • Massimiliano Volpicelli: 6 years and 8 months

It's a complicated situation in Caivano, too many years of corruption and mafia that have destroyed the community. I hope that this time justice will take its course and punish those who have made mistakes without mercy.
