Fillea Cgil Campania meets the Albanian and Roman communities present in Campania to discuss the rights of workers in the construction sector. The meeting, promoted by the general secretary Enzo Maio and the territorial secretariats of Avellino, Benevento, Caserta and Salerno with the Cgil Campania, will see the participation of the general secretary Fillea Cgil Campania, the general secretary Cgil Campania, Nicola Ricci, the coordinator of the Migration and International Mobility Area of ​​Inca Cgil, Claudio Piccinini, the national head of migrant policies Fillea Cgil, Mercedes Landolfi, Andrei Sfirloaga of the Romanian embassy in Italy, the president of the Neapolitan association of Albanians in Italy, Iskander, Xhuljan Lala and the heads of the Inca offices abroad Emilia Maria Spurcaciu (Inca Romania), Abele Bejko (Inca Albania) and Geri Ballo, expert in second-generation migration policies.

“The Albanian and Romanian communities are among the largest in Campania and also those most involved in construction. In fact, there are around 1400 workers from these communities – explains the general secretary of Filea Cgil Campania, Enzo Maio – involved in the construction sector. But our experience and our presence on the territory tells us that many others live in conditions of marginalization and total black economy. 90 percent of these workers are men between 30 and 60 years old: an important workforce, very often underpaid and on the margins of contractual opportunities such as extra-contractual allowances, sector bonuses, social security and supplementary health care that can only be accessed with formal membership. 3 percent are over 60 and 7 percent are under 30. Young and old – concludes Maio – who can seize opportunities and occasions to exit the labor market with dignity, or who can enter it by using the training and reward opportunities provided for the new generations”.
