Rome. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the parent company of the FS Italiane Group's Infrastructure Hub, continues its commitment to the redevelopment and modernization of railway stations across the country.
In recent days, a tender was awarded, divided into three lots for a total value of over 58 million euros, for extraordinary maintenance work on buildings and external areas of 17 railway yards.
The projects, also funded by PNRR funds, aim to improve the passenger travel experience and make stations more accessible and welcoming. Specifically, the station interiors will be renovated, accessibility for people with disabilities will be improved, and outdoor areas will be redeveloped.
The stations affected by the works are:
Aosta Valley: Chatillon Saint Vincent, Donnas, Pont Saint Martin, Verres
Piedmont: Alessandria, Borgofranco
Lombardy: Romano of Lombardy
Trentino-Alto Adige: Merano
Veneto: Longarone, Venice Porto Marghera
Tuscany: Montecatini
Abruzzo: Giulianova
Campania: Caserta
Basilicata: Upper Power
Apulia: Monopoli, Trinitapoli
Sicily: Acireale
"We pay great attention to stations, which represent the gateways to our cities", declared the CEO and General Manager of RFIGianpiero Strisciuglio: "Our goal is to improve the passenger travel experience. Over the past twelve months, we've already awarded tenders for station redevelopment projects worth a total of approximately €960 million."
The station redevelopment activities are part of a broader plan implemented by RFI to respond to the needs of the community and institutional stakeholders.
RFI's commitment to improving Italian railway stations is concrete and constant, with the aim of making them increasingly modern, efficient, and welcoming places for all travellers.
