Last weekend, the State Police's traveling road safety campaign, "E...state con noi," stopped in Piazza Lauro in Sorrento and Piazza Vittoria in Naples. This initiative, aimed at promoting a culture of safe driving among young people, dedicated two days to raising awareness about road safety.
During the event, Traffic Police officers introduced young people to the technologies and equipment used to ensure road safety. Representative vehicles such as the Blue Coach and the Police Lamborghinis attracted the attention of the participants. The kids had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with tools such as the breathalyzer, the precursor and the telelaser, and were involved in themed games to understand the importance of driving without distractions.
At the same time, in Piazza Angelina Lauro in Meta and in Largo Sermoneta, the Highway Police intensified checks to combat driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The officers checked a total of 214 people and 134 vehicles, verifying the state of intoxication and alteration by narcotic substances of 157 individuals.
The checks revealed that 5 drivers tested positive for the salivary screening for drug use, while 4 were under the influence of alcohol. As a result, 6 drivers were reported criminally and the others received administrative sanctions. 30 violations of the Highway Code were contested, 3 vehicles were seized and 6 driving licenses were withdrawn, with a total of 91 points deducted.
